Proven On and Off Page SEO Methods

Since you are wanting to learn about building a wordpress site, you should probably learn a little about SEO too.  Knowing SEO is the difference between Google ever finding your website or never finding it at all.  In this post I am going to cover some basic SEO tips that you should apply to every wordpress blog you create.

Once you understand SEO and how to rank with the search engines, you will be able to do it over and over again.  On top of that, you can make some extra money helping out local businesses.

Let’s get started…   There are some key things, very elementary seo techniques that will either make or break your site. Let’s go over them now
• You will have some homework… understand your keywords, understand how much traffic there is every month and also understand the exact amount of competition.  Do not start until you figure these things out.  My favorite place to start with any niche I am looking into is Google Keywords Tool.  It would take a while just to explain how this works so I suggest watching videos to learn the best ways to use it.  I promise you, this will become your best friend so learn it well.
Free programs you should download if you want to get serious about SEO is SEOQuake. It is a free plugin that works for both chrome and firefox browsers. This allows you to see the page rank of a site before you even visit it. Very cool tool for doing your homework on the competition. Also good to use before you are entering into any niche.
•Once you secure a niche and market you are going to enter, you will buy a domain name for your new site.

For example: let’s say your niche is in the health industry and you want to focus on  a specific health product.  Maybe it’s a diet product or maybe it’s a back-pain product.  Whatever it is, do your research and find some products names. Then go to Google and start typing in this product names.  You can type “product name reviews”  ”product name scam”   “how does product name work”  etc… Typically, when people type in product names and review or scam after it, they are dead serious on learning more about it.  They want to see if this product is right for them or not.  If you can get your website in front of their eyes that helps them make an informed decision on this product, you win.  So in order to increase your chances of being seen, it is uber important your domain that you buy has your keywords in it.    If you master this, the rest of the optimization is a breeze.
• During your research on your niche, you need to come up with 3-5 related keywords.  These words will be suggested by Google keyword tool and you want to make sure there is a decent amount of search volume and not too much competition.   Now get take your keywords that you have come up with mix these in your meta tags, H1, H2, and H3 headings and add them at least once or twice in each paragraph in your site. There is no way you could learn enough about these seo techniques with just one blog post or even one course. SEO is something you can never know enough about.
• The best platform to use that allows you to apply the proper seo methods is wordpress. You don’t need to know how to build a website and you can create a very professional site in just minutes with little effort.  There are tons of automatic plugins that do most of the work for you.
• Off page SEO is just as important as on page seo. The most important thing about off page seo is getting quality backlinks. Having only one PR5 backlink is better than having 100 PR1 backlinks to your site. Quality is extremely important. The best links to get are .edu and .gov but not always the easiest. There are several ways to get backlinks to your site and they are all good. Any backlink is good, but the higher the PR (page rank) the better.
Here are a couple things you can do immediately to start getting backlinks to your site.

1. Post comments on blogs. Enter website in website box and if possible, enter your website as a link into the text box. Most wordpress blogs allow for this and you can enter a link by adding some html code. Don’t get scared. It’s one line of code. Google “how to create html link” and within seconds you will be able to create a link.

2. Write articles and press releases. Put link in signature.

3. Post on forums and create a signature with a backlink to your site.5. Create youtube videos and put a link in your profile. Don’t need html code to place link in youtube.
There are tons more ways to optimize your site. As I mentioned above, you can never know enough about SEO methods. The most successful bloggers are the ones that master SEO and if you want to get any traffic to your website, this is just one of those things that are necessary if you want to drive traffic without spending any money.
